About the Course
A session designed to build a strong, shared understanding of ADHD and tools to support ADHDers.
Staff will gain an understanding of:
• how ADHD presents in the classroom • the underlying factors impacting attention, learning, behaviour and emotional regulation
• the many additional challenges that often accompany ADHD • key skill gaps which affect many ADHD students and how to help them build those vital skills • practical, evidence-based strategies to support students immediately This workshop is ideal for:
• Whole-staff professional learning • Building consistency across a teaching staff • Introducing practical strategies that can be used straight away
Your Instructor
Rachael Ford
Rachael Ford is a registered psychologist based in Adelaide with experience in the assessment and diagnosis of learning disorders, ADHD and Autism. She travels regularly around Australia to attend workshops and conferences to understand the latest research in supporting neurodivergent children to thrive. She has worked in both the private sector and has contracted to government organizations, including working for two years conducting assessments in SA primary schools on behalf of the Department for Education (SA).
Rachael has a Masters in Professional Psychology from the University of New England and a Bachelor of Psychological Science with First Class Honours from Flinders University.
Rachael is an Associate Member of the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA) and is a registered member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She is certified in ADOS-2 Assessment by La Trobe University.
